Description
This auction listing is for a complete hardware kit to install a weighted skirt or weighted ring, in a non-weighted Collins S-Line "spinner" type knob. It includes three pieces of the brass 2-56 threaded insert and mating Stainless Steel flat head screws that were used on the Collins S-Line, weighted tuning knobs. Most S-Line spinner knobs are already molded with the hole for the threaded insert which can be easily tapped in place with a small hammer and flat punch. Also, if you've had to remove the heavy metal skirt on your weighted knob, there's a good chance that the tiny little threaded insert in the main body of the knob got buggered, since quite often, a thread-lock compound was used during final assembly. Plus, the original 2-56 screws were brass and would not take much torque before they snapped. These are much stronger stainless steel. I'm not sure if the OEM inserts were aluminum, but I know they won't take much torque before they crack. Unfortunately, even if you need just one, you'd have to buy a whole pawful from the typical hardware supplier. So, since I was in the same position, I thought I'd offer my extras to anyone with the same needs. These are spec'd for a 1/8 (0.125) inch hole and may be a tad tight, but so far, I've been able to gently tap them in with a small flat end punch. Please note, this is for the brass inserts and mating SS flat-head screws ONLY....NOT any of the knob parts. The pictures of these items are there only for reference. PLEASE contact me first if there's any sort of complaint, BEFORE simply leaving Negative/Neutral feedback. If you have any questions about this item, delivery times, combined shipping, or, if you have not received the item once it has been paid for, please contact me directly at pincon at erols dot com. I usually ship any item the day after receiving the receipt of payment notice from ebay. Then, it is in the hands of the delivery service. The US post office specifies up to 10 days for US delivery of an item shipped via parcel post. International air mail can take considerably longer. So much so that a tracer cannot even be filed until at least a month after the ship date. I have found that recent international air mail shipments have been taking six weeks or more to arrive. Even priority mail times have extended to several weeks. I didn't earn over 6000 positive feedbacks by cheating people. Please keep this in mind if there is any concern about delivery times.
